The one thing that made my vacation perfect (and why it matters for your business)

Hey there Reader,

I just got back from an amazing road trip to Florida with my partner, and I'm still buzzing with that post-vacation energy. You know that feeling when you come back actually refreshed instead of needing a vacation from your vacation?

But here's what made it so perfect – and I think you'll see why this matters for your business too.

3 things that made all the difference:

1. I planned ahead for real rest.

Before we left, I worked extra hours to get all my client work wrapped up. I made sure I had backup plans for any emergencies that might pop up. Basically, I did the work upfront so I could truly sign off and be present. No checking emails every five minutes or that nagging feeling that something was falling through the cracks.

2. I chose my companion wisely.

What made this trip so rejuvenating wasn't just the change of scenery – it was being with someone who wanted the same things I did. Someone who was happy to take it slow, explore new places, and just enjoy each other's company. We were completely in sync about what we wanted from our time away.

3. It got me thinking about my business relationships.

When I came back with fresh eyes and new ideas, I realized something: running a business solo doesn't mean you're truly alone. We're all surrounded by people – whether it's other entrepreneurs in our network, masterminds we're part of, online communities we hang out in, or even the VA we work with.

And just like that vacation, the people we surround ourselves with make all the difference.

Here's what I mean:

Are the people in your business circle genuinely supportive, or do they tell you what you want to hear? Do they share your values about how you want to run your business, or are they constantly pushing you toward strategies that don't feel right? When you share a win, do they celebrate with you? Do they offer real help or just generic advice when you're struggling?

I know it's not always easy to step back from relationships that aren't serving us, especially when we've invested time or money. But just like I wouldn't have enjoyed my vacation with someone who wanted to rush through everything while I wanted to relax, trying to grow a business surrounded by the wrong people can turn what should be exciting into something stressful and draining.

Take a moment this week to look around. Who's lifting you up? Who's making this entrepreneurial journey more enjoyable and sustainable? Those are the relationships worth investing in.

And if you realize your circle could use some supportive voices, well, that's something worth addressing, too.

I'd love to hear from you: Reply and tell me about someone who's been genuinely supportive in your business journey. What did they do that made a difference? I read every response, and your stories always inspire me.

Here's to choosing our companions wisely – in vacation and in business!

Here's to your success,

Happy New Year! I hope you're feeling energized and ready for what 2026 has in store. I wanted to start the year by giving you something practical: a 2026 Monthly Calendar you can print and use all year long. But here's the thing: this isn't just any calendar. You'll notice there's a box on each month that says "MY BIG GOAL." That's intentional. Because here's what I've learned after nearly 20 years of helping entrepreneurs build sustainable businesses: we don't fail because we don't set...

100% Responsibility

2025 is coming to a close! Have you reviewed the year yet? I did. And here's what I found out. I've been making excuses. Yes, I know better. But... This year has had its challenges, and I've been blaming my fatigue, which, yes, IS a REAL thing (perimenopause is no joke), BUT I've been using it as an excuse for not getting stuff done. My best focus time is in the morning. I'm an early bird, always have been. Afternoons are exhausting (even more so lately). I have always protected my morning...
