The one thing I'm doing differently in 2026

2025 is coming to a close! Have you reviewed the year yet?

I did. And here's what I found out.

I've been making excuses.

Yes, I know better. But...

This year has had its challenges, and I've been blaming my fatigue, which, yes, IS a REAL thing (perimenopause is no joke), BUT I've been using it as an excuse for not getting stuff done.

My best focus time is in the morning. I'm an early bird, always have been. Afternoons are exhausting (even more so lately). I have always protected my morning time blocks for my important work - the work that actually needs brainpower and not just a moving mouse. :-)

The last few months, though, I haven't protected that time. I've let myself get pulled into client work, admin tasks, or other tasks that could be done later in the day.

Then, by the afternoon, I'm already tired, and I finally decide to focus on my #1 priority. Surprise, surprise - that doesn't go too well!

So I blame the fatigue instead of admitting the truth: I'm not taking 100% responsibility for how I'm using my energy!

Sound familiar?

Maybe for you it's not fatigue. Maybe you're telling yourself you don't have enough time because you're taking care of your family, helping friends, keeping the house running... all the things that genuinely DO need to get done.

But here's what I learned long ago from Jack Canfield - and I'm reminding myself today: E+R=O (Event + response = Outcome)

We can't always control the events - the hormones, the family needs, the interruptions, the chaos. But we CAN control our response. And our response determines our outcome.

So here's what I'm taking 100% responsibility for in 2026:

Showing up. No more excuses.

I know what to do to grow my business (I've run a successful web design business for over 15 years). I've been teaching planning and productivity to my web and consulting clients for years. Now it's time to grow a new business, and I've been letting my fear of being seen stop me from...being seen.

No more hiding behind "I'm too tired," "I don't look good on camera," or "I'll do it when I have more time."

I'm committing to showing up in 2026 - on video, in emails, in my business. Even when I'm scared. Even when I'm tired. Even when it's not perfect.

Because the outcome I want? That requires a different response than the one I've been giving.

What about you?

What are you taking 100% responsibility for in 2026?

What excuse have you been hiding behind that you're ready to let go of?

Hit reply and tell me. I read every single response, and I'd love to know what you're committing to.

Hi, Reader Quick question... When you have a website question, where do you turn? Google? Facebook groups? YouTube? A friend? Or maybe you just hope it fixes itself. 😄 Over the years, I've had so many clients apologize before asking a question. "I know this is probably stupid, but..." Or... "I should probably know this already..." And I always tell them the same thing: There are no stupid questions. No one knows everything about everything, and helping each other with what we do know is one...

Hi, Reader It's almost July! I know. I felt it too when I looked at the calendar this week. Six months ago, you probably had a plan. Maybe a word for the year (my word is "Intentional"), maybe a list of goals, maybe just a strong feeling that this year was going to be different. And now here we are, halfway through, and if you're anything like most entrepreneurs I know, there's a gap between where you thought you'd be and where you actually are. I don't say that to make you feel bad. I say it...
